Fayetteville-Manlius swears in superintendent, board members and student representative; elects new officers

Parvig also briefed the board on the state-level "New York Inspires" initiative, which is exploring a competency-based approach to graduation; she said many implementation details remain to be defined and that the work will be multiyear.
The board nominated and elected Sarah Fitzgerald as president and Kristen Purcell as vice president; both officers repeated the oath of office. Sarah Fitzgerald addressed the board, emphasized integrity and trust in governance, and invited members to a board retreat on Aug. 19 to strengthen governance practices.
Chase Joukowsky, the ex officio student board member, repeated the oath and gave a brief student report on summer activities, AP scores and student involvement in community events.
