State lists two at-risk insect species at Carlisle Cranberry Bog; commission notes preservation priorities and approves related invoices

Commissioners heard an update on Cranberry Bog preservation work and approved invoices tied to bog restoration and studies during the March 12 meeting.
The commission reported that a site visit to the Cranberry Bog House on March 5 included Gienapp Architects and members of the Historical Commission to discuss preservation priorities relevant to the town’s Cranberry Bog House Housing Feasibility Study.
Steve Tobin reported that the state has listed two species of greatest conservation need at the Carlisle Cranberry Bog: the New England Bluet (a damselfly) and the Twelve-spotted Tiger Beetle. Commissioners noted those listings should inform the timing of maintenance activities and protection of critical habitat areas.
The commission reviewed and approved payment of several invoices: Carlisle Rubbish invoice #10729 for $60 (LSC Repair & Maintenance), SumCo Project #P25024 for $19,620 (CPA Cranberry Bog Dam #1 Restoration funds), Weston & Sampson H-H Study invoice #3260153 for $848 (CPA Cranberry Bog HH Study funds), and Carlisle Mosquito for $182 (General Fund printing and legal ad). Sylvia Willard moved to approve payment of the bills, and a unanimous roll-call vote carried the motion.
Sylvia Willard also reported that the Community Preservation Committee has an upcoming meeting in the next couple of weeks. The commission then approved minutes from February 9 and February 12, 2026, and adjourned at approximately 11:00 p.m.
