City staff presented several public-safety purchasing and funding requests at the Feb. 17 Richmond Hill workshop.
Police staff asked the council to consider awarding an InterOp Mobile CAD system and standard server, including installation, at a total cost of $68,405 to replace the existing "Eagle" system; staff said benefits would include real-time access to the 9-1-1 center, live call remarks and ADL mapping to improve situational awareness and officer safety. The Police Department recommended funding municipal court case-management software with a $4 per paid-citation fee; staff noted an alternative of a $2,000 monthly maintenance fee. The $4 per-citation option was estimated at $24,000 annually if the city pays the fees.
Fire-department staff requested $67,116 in equipment purchases funded from SPLOST 24-30 as part of the approved capital plan, including purchasing five or six new air packs to replace aging units whose service life is about 15 years. Staff also requested approval to surplus 11 police department vehicles for auction; councilmembers asked whether any other department might find use for the vehicles before they are sent to auction.
Council discussion focused on funding sources and operational benefits; no formal votes on purchases were recorded at the workshop.
