The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted June 30 to adopt Resolution 26-19, designating the bulletin board in the Board of Supervisors entryway at Orchard Hill Building 3, 2175 Lexington Boulevard, Washington, Iowa, as the county’s official posting place for legal notices.
The resolution cites Iowa Code Section 21.4 and requires that legal notices be posted on the designated bulletin board at least 24 hours before the meeting or event they relate to and be clearly marked as to the type of public meeting. It also requires notices to be posted on the county’s official website and permits posting on the lower-level vestibule bulletin board of the Washington County Courthouse.
The action corrects a numbering error that had appeared on the agenda (the Board approved an amended agenda earlier in the meeting). The motion to adopt Resolution 26-19 was made by Supervisor Stan Stoops and seconded by Supervisor Richard Young and was approved by roll call vote. The resolution states the designation will be reviewed and renewed annually at the first regular meeting each year.
Board minutes record no Department Head comment on the item. The resolution takes effect immediately upon adoption and provides a procedural baseline for how Washington County will post legal notices going forward.
