Harford County advisory board approves $2,500 for youth summer camp

During its April 16 meeting, the Harford County Department of Social Services Citizen Advisory Board approved a $2,500 allocation to fund attendance at a youth summer camp.
Pamela Smith moved to allot $2,500 for a youth to attend summer camp; Christine Gerhardt seconded the motion. The board recorded the motion as passed by a unanimous vote. The board’s Events & Fundraising committee said staff will nominate a youth for camp and the funding will be provided after the nomination is approved.
Committee reports at the meeting also noted fundraising plans, including a hot-dog fundraiser scheduled for May 13–14 and discussion of letter solicitations and potential grant applications to support future camp weeks. No amendments to the funding motion were recorded and there was no executive-level policy change attached to the allocation.
