Former First Selectman David Bindleglass reported the Aspetuck Health District’s final recommendation to the Board of Selectmen on Feb. 5, 2026, saying the district will remain Easton’s current public‑health provider for now and that the arrangement should be reviewed again in two years.
Bindleglass said Easton residents do not have smooth access to health records and that residents need more information about application requirements. He named Luci Bango as the district’s director and thanked Doreen Collins for her work. He noted that the neighboring town of Redding operates its own health department at greater cost, suggesting Easton’s current arrangement may be more economical.
Selectman Kristi Sogofsky asked whether the town should eliminate the on‑site sanitarian hours (Easton currently has a sanitarian in Town Hall three hours per week); David Bindleglass replied he believed those hours would be of greater benefit if the sanitarian worked out in the field, and he suggested quarterly check‑ins to assess how the arrangement is working.
Why it matters: The decision affects how public‑health services are delivered at the local level, resident access to records, and potential future town budgeting if Easton were to move to its own department.
Next steps: The board accepted the recommendation to stay with the Aspetuck Health District for now and will monitor the arrangement with planned reviews every three months and a formal review in two years.
