The Madison County Commissioners on June 30 approved a package of routine and substantive items spanning contracts, grants, personnel changes and administrative procedures.
On the consent agenda the board approved minutes from earlier meetings, MOUs with the Montana Stockgrowers Association and Montana Wool Growers Association for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, an AmeriGas propane contract renewal, an indigent burial assistance application for $1,200, and claims approval. Commissioner Duke W. Gilman moved and Commissioner William A. Todd seconded the consent-agenda approval; the motion carried unanimously.
Other votes and approvals recorded in the minutes included awarding the Library Parking Lot construction contract to Titan, Inc. (with agreed adjustments to safety railing length); approving an Agreement for Professional Services with Allied Engineering for courthouse geotechnical support; and approving an Agreement for Deposit of Obligations Other Than Retainage. The county approved issuance of reclamation letters for two gravel pits (Sauerbier Site #1890 and Boyd Site #1813) and approved the Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Notice of Intent to Request Release of Funds for the Harrison Wastewater Improvements Phase 2 (MT-CDBG-24-PF-01).
Personnel and insurance actions included approval of a revised sheriff’s salary schedule (changes to specialty pay and on-call time), the creation and wage increase for a Deputy Election Administrator in the Clerk and Recorder’s office, and authorization to align Public Health nurse pay with Nursing Home nurses. The board also approved a Cyber Insurance policy presented by Novich Insurance.
Commissioner William A. Todd said he would allocate part of his LATCF district funds for Highway 64 signage and moved approval of a $1,675 expenditure. The board approved the Help Center, Inc. Follow-Up Services Grant (presented by Emilie Sayler of Public Health), authorized the county to use Accent Auction to hold a county auction, and confirmed that the Big Sky Fire District is the permitting authority for public fireworks displays within its jurisdiction.
Items continued or tabled included the SRS Payment Election and Allocation, which the board continued to the July 14 meeting, and a Letter of Recommendation on Comprehensive Energy Permitting Reform, which commissioners tabled because they said they lacked sufficient information.
All recorded motions in the minutes show unanimous votes by Commissioners Gilman, Todd and Nye unless otherwise noted. The board adjourned at 10:56 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2026.
