Committee OKs truck purchase from equipment fund, reviews fleet updates and approves $4.1M in vouchers

The Price County Highway & Transportation Committee on Jan. 7 authorized using additional money from the equipment fund to buy a replacement for a 2014 highway shop truck that was totaled in an accident.
The committee was told insurance paid roughly $12,000 for the totaled truck. Motion by Jordan Spacek, seconded by Doug Erickson, approved spending additional equipment-fund dollars for a replacement truck not to exceed a total cost of $25,000. Committee documents show the equipment fund balance is being built and is estimated at just under $200,000; members also discussed updating borrowing resolutions to reflect prior borrowing of about $3.1 million and revised category expenditures for construction and equipment.
Fleet updates included notice that two new Freightliner trucks are scheduled for delivery in February and that the two body builds by Scott's Truck and Trailer for Universal Equipment exceeded the borrowed amount by just under $6,000.
The committee also approved vouchers for Sept. 2025 ($107,693.07), Oct. 2025 ($114,669.14), Nov. 2025 ($3,060,971.64) and Dec. 2025 ($911,695.29). The meeting set the next committee date for March 4, 2026, and Chair Larry Palecek adjourned the meeting at 10:17 a.m.
Next steps: staff will proceed with vehicle replacement procurement within the authorized limit and prepare updated borrowing resolution language for committee review.
