Price County outlines 2026 road projects; WisDOT local work not expected until 2029

Price County Highway & Transportation Committee members reviewed plans for 2026 county construction and coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
County Highway Commissioner Roger Petrick told the committee the county plans work on County Highways D and H this year, while WisDOT is scheduled to handle some guardrail and signage work on state routes; state bids for that work are expected to be issued in March 2026. Petrick said the county does not expect state highway projects in Price County until about 2029, when work on Hwy 70 and Hwy 8 is forecasted.
Committee members discussed pending grants for work on Hwy D and spring pulverizing plans for county routes. Petrick also reported that towns Worcester and Ogema are scheduled to have bridge work done, and that County Hwy N could see work as early as 2027.
Separately, the committee reviewed safety measures at the Hwy 13 and Hwy 111 intersection. Petrick said WisDOT has not responded to a request about rumble strips, declined a previously discussed flashing round stop sign, and the county has added two stop-ahead signs and two additional stop signs at the intersection.
Next steps: the county will monitor WisDOT bid schedules in March and continue pursuing grants and county-level preparations for the listed projects.
