Committee approves Georgetown bridge and culvert aid; inspections flag 25 structures needing work

The Price County Highway & Transportation Committee on Jan. 7 approved the Town of Georgetown's request for bridge and culvert aid and agreed to forward a resolution to the county Executive Committee for consideration.
The action followed presentation of the county's 6-20 Structure Inspections and Deficiency Reports, which identify 25 structures across Price County in need of repair. County Highway Commissioner Roger Petrick presented the report and told members the Town of Georgetown's request meets the criteria being considered by the county.
The report also flagged a cracked masonry arch on a culvert on Bennett Road in the Town of Hackett, which Petrick said may cost an estimated $375,000 to $400,000 to repair. Committee members discussed whether to establish or enforce timelines for towns to submit bridge and culvert aid requests and noted a quote for approximately $30 million in available ARIP funds was mentioned during the discussion.
Motion to approve the Georgetown aid request was made by Doug Erickson and seconded by Jordan Spacek; the motion carried. The committee will forward the approved request as a resolution to the Executive Committee for the next step in the county's approval process.
Next steps: the Executive Committee will receive the resolution and determine whether to place it on a future county board agenda for final action.
