Cape May County Bridge Commission approves consent agenda authorizing event indemnifications and certifying February deposits

The Cape May County Bridge Commission unanimously approved a consent agenda at its March 19, 2026 meeting, authorizing several routine actions including indemnification agreements for scheduled events and certifying February revenue. Secretary/Treasurer Maryanne K. Murphy moved each motion and Vice Chairman Scott Halliday seconded; all motions passed without recorded opposition.
The consent package included Resolutions 26-3836 through 26-3842. Resolution 26-3836 authorized the chairman to sign the officer’s certificate; Resolution 26-3837 certified monthly deposits into the revenue account for February 2026 in the amount of $326,241.90; and Resolution 26-3838 approved a ceiling amount to cover health benefits and payroll expenses that may arise between commission meetings. Additional approved resolutions authorized indemnification agreements for two May 10 group bike rides (Police Unity Tour Chapter 2 and Honor 37/Law Enforcement United), approved a lease extension with the Strathmere Fire Company, and authorized an indemnification agreement for the OCNJ Half Marathon, 5K & 10 Mile Walk/Run scheduled for October 4, 2026 with the City of Ocean City Aquatic & Fitness Center.
Commissioners present for the actions were Chairman Carol Brand, Vice Chairman Scott Halliday and Secretary/Treasurer Maryanne K. Murphy; Executive Director Kevin Lare was recorded as having read the revenue report earlier in the meeting. The minutes show no public comments on the consent agenda. The commission recorded motions to approve the February minutes and to pay the bills, both moved by Murphy, seconded by Halliday and approved unanimously.
The approval of the indemnification agreements clears the way for the scheduled recreational events to use bridge facilities, subject to the terms of the contracts and the indemnification agreements recorded in the resolutions. The commission did not take additional discussion or amendments on the consent items and moved on to project updates.
