Early council adopts Rudd Sanitation contract, approves permits and municipal building repairs; budget hearing set for May 3

The City Council of Early adopted Resolution 22-08 on April 5 approving a contract with Rudd Sanitation for solid waste collection. The resolution was offered by Councilor Brian Pickhinke and seconded by Councilor Summer Schmitt; a roll-call vote recorded ayes from Pickhinke, Tim Langner, Schmitt and Becky Blackman and the mayor declared the resolution adopted. Bill Cougill was absent.
The council also approved two building permits, #794 and #795. Councilor Brian Pickhinke moved approval of each permit and Councilor Summer Schmitt seconded; both motions passed on a show of hands with Pickhinke, Langner, Schmitt and Blackman voting aye and Cougill absent.
Councilors voted to replace three doors on the Municipal Building after a motion from Councilor Pickhinke, seconded by Councilor Becky Blackman; the motion passed with the same four ayes. In routine business, the consent agenda (agenda, minutes and bills) was approved on a motion by Councilor Tim Langner, seconded by Councilor Becky Blackman.
The council set a public hearing date of May 3, 2022 to consider amending the fiscal year 2021-2022 budget. Councilor Brian Pickhinke moved to set the hearing; Councilor Tim Langner seconded and the motion passed with Pickhinke, Langner, Schmitt and Blackman voting aye.
The actions taken affect municipal services and near-term capital work: the sanitation contract establishes the vendor and terms for solid-waste service going forward, and the door replacement and building permits clear the way for planned property and building projects. The public hearing on May 3 will allow the council to consider budget changes before final amendment.
