Town staff introduced the Ocean Rescue team; the lifeguard lead (identified as Chad) said it was his 26th year with Nags Head Ocean Rescue and noted two training sessions in May and June that brought the staff to full strength by June 20.
Many lifeguards introduced themselves and their hometowns; staff invited commissioners and the public to a local rescue‑race event in Kill Devil Hills that evening and asked staff and lifeguards to meet for a group photo prior to the event. The mayor thanked staff and lifeguards for their service and wished them a safe summer.
No board action was required; the recognition was ceremonial.
