Elizabeth (director, introduced during the meeting) briefed the board on recent business retention and FIFA-related activities. She said fan festivals, watch parties and related activations produced high local engagement and noted exceptionally strong merchandise sales at Town Square during June. She credited the host-city supporter agreement for enabling participation in FIFA-related events and the resulting sales tax benefits to the city.
Elizabeth also described a community-informed mural project at the Imperial site as part of interim activation efforts while master-developer negotiations continue. The project includes a public input survey (launched during the meeting), an artist activation at the city’s Aug. 6 back-to-school event and a community "paint-by-numbers" event planned for Sept. 3 prior to the mural’s anticipated completion later that month. She encouraged board members and the public to participate and share the survey.
The director’s report concluded with general thanks for staff participation and reminders to follow the redevelopment and marketing team on social channels for updates.
