Council approves invoices, project amendments and fee waiver for Trout & Salmon Classic

The Munising City Council approved a series of routine procurement items, a project amendment and a fee waiver for a community event at its meeting.

Council approved several Coleman Engineering invoices for Washington Street sewer and water work and approved a change order for the tourist park project. The council also approved an engineering amendment to the 2026 lead service line replacement (LSLR) project to add construction services and on‑site archaeological monitoring; the motion recorded the amendment amount as $40,700, though an earlier speaker read a different figure during discussion and staff said they would confirm the final contract amount.

The council authorized the city manager to be the signatory for Phase 2 of the boat launch project to streamline contracting, and it granted the Munising Fire Department’s request to waive boat‑launch and marina fees for the Munising Trout and Salmon Classic on May 15–17. "We'll use help at the fillet table if anybody's interested," one commissioner said during the discussion of the event waiver.

Several procurement motions were moved, seconded and carried during the meeting. The city manager’s report also included scheduling for special meetings to discuss proposed water and sewer rate changes; the council set two special meetings at 6 p.m. for additional public discussion.

Council recorded motions, votes and staff follow‑up for each approval; staff were directed to confirm the LSLR amendment dollar amount before final contract execution.
