Environmental Sustainability Committee approves small contingency purchases for RTSD and library

Christina Christodoulopoulos, co-chair of the Environmental Sustainability Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. With four members present, the committee moved quickly through housekeeping and approved three contingency-fund expenditures.
The committee voted unanimously to spend up to $650 to buy 50 copies of the children’s book Night Magic to distribute at Route to Sustainability Day 2027. The motion to approve the expenditure was moved by Keith Therrien and seconded by Kyra Prats; the vote passed by roll call.
Members also approved spending up to $250 to purchase a thermal imaging camera to donate to the Gleason Library’s Library of Things, a lending collection intended to give residents access to tools and equipment. The camera was described as a tool to help homeowners identify heat leaks that they could then address. Mac Hisey moved the camera purchase motion; Keith Therrien seconded and the motion passed unanimously by roll call.
Finally, committee members agreed to reserve up to $150 of remaining contingency funds to buy a bird bath to be used as a raffle prize at Route to Sustainability Day in 2027. The committee estimated that $200–$300 would remain after the other purchases. Mac Hisey moved the bird-bath motion; Keith Therrien seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Because a quorum was available for only about 10 minutes, the meeting was abbreviated. Mac Hisey moved to adjourn, Keith Therrien seconded, and Christina Christodoulopoulos adjourned the meeting at 7:09 p.m. Minutes for the June 18 meeting were later approved by the committee on July 2, 2026; the minutes were taken and submitted by Kyra Prats.
