The Ogdensburg Mayor and Council on March 25 approved a consent agenda that endorsed the borough’s Memorial Day Parade, adopted a mutual‑aid and assistance agreement with Sussex County through Dec. 31, 2028, and approved a $3,000 annual Mechanic’s Stipend for a Department of Public Works employee.
Mayor George P. Hutnick opened the meeting and read the required Open Public Meetings Act notice. Councilman Poyer moved and Councilman DeMeo seconded approval of the consent agenda; the motion passed by roll call with Councilmembers Ciasullo, Cowdrick, DeMeo, Poyer and Ruitenberg voting yes and none voting no.
The endorsement for the Memorial Day Parade (Resolution 33‑2024) requests that the County of Sussex issue a permit to close County Route 517 between the Ogdensburg Fire Department and Kennedy Avenue on May 27, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The council recorded its support so organizers can proceed with county permitting.
Resolution 34‑2024 approves a Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement with the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners, intended to formalize cooperative emergency response arrangements for 2024–2028. The resolution references compliance with the Fire Service Resource Emergency Deployment Rules (N.J.A.C. 5:75A‑1.1 et seq.) and the New Jersey Civilian Defense and Disaster Control Act; the Mayor and Borough Clerk are authorized to execute the agreement.
Resolution 35‑2024 awards a Mechanic’s Stipend of $3,000 to Jacob Kinney, Assistant Supervisor, Department of Public Works. The stipend is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024; it is payable across the Borough’s 26‑week pay periods, is not included in base salary, and is non‑cumulative. The expenditure was approved as part of the consent agenda vote.
The consent agenda also included approval of the March 11 regular meeting minutes. With those items approved, the council moved on to remaining business and a scheduled budget review later in the meeting.
