The Surgoinsville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Tuesday approved first readings of two budget ordinances during a special meeting at Surgoinsville City Hall.
The board took up Ordinance 184-2025, described in the agenda as an amendment to the 2024–2025 fiscal year budget (Budget Amendment #2). Alderman Bishop moved the motion to approve the first reading; Alderman Hoss seconded. A roll-call vote was recorded and the motion carried unanimously, according to the meeting minutes.
The board then considered Ordinance 185-2025, the proposed annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. Alderman Bishop again moved the motion to approve the first reading and Alderman Hoss seconded; the minutes state the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
