The Surgoinsville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Feb. 20 approved Resolution 160‑2025, authorizing the issuance of interest‑bearing equipment acquisition capital outlay notes, series 2025, in an amount not to exceed $100,000 to finance the purchase of a town truck chassis and related equipment. The special meeting was held at Surgoinsville City Hall; the session convened at 6:07 p.m. and was dismissed at 6:13 p.m.
Vice‑Mayor Jarnagin made the motion to approve the resolution; Alderman Bishop seconded. A roll call vote was taken and the board voted unanimously to approve the measure. Present at the meeting were Mayor Merrell Graham, Vice‑Mayor Jarnagin, Alderman Collier, Alderman Mierek, Alderman Sandidge, Alderman Bishop and Alderman Hoss. The board noted that public notice of the special meeting had been posted on the Town of Surgoinsville City Hall Facebook page and at public locations on Feb. 13, 2025.
The approved action authorized Recorder Megan Gentry to begin the loan approval process and to proceed with a formal bid (BID) process for a truck bed. The board also authorized Donnie Morrison, Public Works Manager, to purchase the 2025 F‑450 Chassis 4x4 SD Regular Cab 145" WB DRW XL (F4H) after loan approval is obtained. The resolution specifies the financing limit as "an amount not to exceed $100,000." The minutes record the vote as unanimous in favor of approving the motion.
