Summers County Board of Education elects president, names representatives

The Summers County Board of Education convened its statutory meeting at 8:00 a.m. on July 6, 2026, administered oaths to three board members and elected new leadership for the coming term.
Board member Greg Angel recited the oath of office and was sworn in, saying, “I, Greg Angel, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of West Virginia and will faithfully discharge the duties of member of the board of education of the county of Summers to the best of my skill and judgment. So help me God.” Meghan Harvey and Renee Farley also recited the oath and were sworn as board members during the meeting.
The board moved to organize leadership. After nominations and a voice vote the board recorded Greg Angel as president; the minutes show a 4–0 vote with Angel abstaining. The board also elected Jay McBride as vice president; the minutes record the vice presidential vote as 4–0 with McBride abstaining.
The board appointed its representative to the regional education service; the transcript refers to this body as the SESC and elsewhere as the SCSC. Greg Angel said he has served previously, noted the group meets monthly and that representatives receive per‑meeting compensation, and the board voted to have Angel continue as the district representative.
The board also appointed Meghan (spelled "Megan" in one line of the minutes) Harvey as the district’s representative to the WVU Extension; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
