County staff briefed the Commissioners Court on a package of previously struck-off properties that had received private bids and asked the court to accept the highest offers and to consider reduced minimum bids for other unsold parcels to get them back on the tax roll.
Staff said the package contains six properties with bids attached and explained that some parcels carry city lot liens that bidders must acknowledge. “All of the bids in these properties… were submitted 2026,” staff said; the broader list includes struck-off properties dating back to 2020 and 2025. The staff presentation noted there are roughly 30 struck-off properties related to the county’s records and recommended accepting the highest bids presented to return the parcels to the tax roll.
Commissioners discussed two-bid situations where the court would accept the higher offer, potential waivers of city lot liens, and the county’s procedure for documenting outstanding liens before deed transfer. After questions and clarifications the court moved to accept the high bids on the properties presented and to pursue reductions in minimum bids and public resale where appropriate; the motions carried unanimously. Staff said they would coordinate with the city and the school district on remaining approvals and lien issues.
The actions are intended to restore parcels to the tax rolls and generate revenue, but commissioners also discussed the statutory redemption periods and the need to ensure titles and liens are clear before final conveyance.
