Committee hears radio-tower update; Meadowbrook electrical cost reduced below $40,000

Mike, reporting for the ad hoc radio-tower committee, said work is progressing, the group is meeting every other week and is coordinating with the Technical Governing Body (TGB) to seek access to the WOJB tower as part of options to improve county radio infrastructure.
"They are deciding if they want to try to revamp that tower... or put up a new one," Mike said, adding that the committee has a backup plan while the assessment continues. He reported that preliminary work by Gencom has been under way and that negotiations reduced an additional Meadowbrook electrical-service cost to under $40,000, which the county can handle.
Mike said the committee is also testing ice-load capacities and other structural requirements and that any remodel or new build would take time. Committee members asked that tower work remain on future agendas so the group can continue updates and seek any necessary approvals.
No vote or formal commitment to building versus revamping was taken; the committee will continue the project through the ad hoc group and report progress at the next meeting.
