Mountain Lakes board approves bills, personnel items and sets budget hearing date

On personnel, the superintendent reported position clarifications to reflect staff who work across multiple buildings, the appointment of a paraprofessional at Lake Drive, reappointment of a leave-replacement science teacher, and a retirement: night custodian Chungwei Li, effective June 30. The board also approved additional retroactive extracurricular compensation, substitute and volunteer appointments, field-trip requests including a DECA national competition and an eighth-grade trip to Boston, and tuition-reimbursement requests for staff graduate credit.
During roll call there were routine abstentions on some executive-session items; the transcript records Dr. Hirschfeld abstaining on the executive-session minutes. The board scheduled its official budget hearing for April 27 and said the county review of preliminary budgets is still in progress.
