Nadine, the Town of Miami Lakes’ yoga instructor, told the Elder Affairs Committee the town offers free morning classes Monday through Thursday from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., with chair yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays to accommodate participants with limited mobility.
"We have classes Monday through Thursday at 07:45 to 08:45," Nadine said, describing the class structure and noting it is free and open to adults of all ages. She said the community center (Mary Collins) supplies blocks and straps and that participants may bring their own mats; chairs are provided for chair-yoga sessions.
Nadine asked for help publicizing the program, saying many town residents are unaware it exists. Committee members suggested flyers, posting to the town’s social media channels and a save-the-date for other senior events. Nadine offered to collect names and register residents who have difficulty with the portal.
The committee encouraged word-of-mouth outreach and agreed to post class information through the town calendar and social accounts. Committee staff will coordinate with the liaison to add the yoga schedule and related events to official town postings.
