The Camanche City Council on July 7 approved a resolution adopting the first amendment to the cell tower lease with Graincom 3 LLC, a successor in interest to Wapsi Wireless.
Staff described the amendment as granting Graincom additional renewal options (the contract language transcribed at the meeting described "7 5-year renewal options"), a limited right of first refusal to purchase the leased parcel if sold, and a non-compete provision. The amendment includes a provision for Graincom to pay $10,000 to the city if the amendment is executed on or before July 31, 2026.
A council member moved to adopt the resolution, another seconded, and the motion passed on roll call. Staff said the lease and its prior history (original lease dating to 2009) have been beneficial to the city. The mayor and city staff were authorized to execute documents necessary to complete the amendment.
The amendment will be executed consistent with the terms the council approved; the resolution directs the mayor and city staff to sign required documents.
