Applicant outlines Tech Drive driveway rehabilitation; staff to review plans

Ryan Carrington of DLD presented a site‑plan review for the Tech Business Center owners association, proposing to repair and resurface a severely deteriorated private driveway.

"The plan that we've developed is to do a pretty extensive pull down the patching in areas that are real distressed and in the rest of the area in the full length of the driveway to mill it and repay the entire thing with asphalt," Carrington said, describing extensive patching, milling, a full asphalt resurface matched to existing pavement width and added roadside drainage.

Carrington said the submission included an erosion‑control permit and a geotechnical report. Board members and staff discussed sequencing: the board’s engineer (Global) should review plans and provide comments before the town issues a building or work permit. The building commissioner noted that permit applications are typically submitted as a package and recommended Global review first to catch issues early.

Members also raised load‑capacity and long‑term maintenance concerns for a road that will remain private unless the developer meets town standards for acceptance. Carrington said the design increases pavement thickness and will add structural strength. Staff directed the applicant to coordinate revisions with the engineer and building department and to provide any additional details requested by Global.

Next steps: staff and Global will review Carrington’s plans and return comments to the applicant; the applicant will proceed with permit application steps once those comments are addressed.
