West Salem board approves teacher and bus driver contracts for 2025 '6

Ryan, speaking for the superintendent's management team, explained the district is aligning its contract-packet practice with peer districts and will not list every employee name in the public packet. "We're asking for the board to vote to approve extending teacher and school contracts for the 2025-26 school year to those staff that currently hold [contracts]," Ryan said, noting the process includes closed-session steps only when nonrenewals are under consideration.
On a related personnel item, district transportation staff said there are currently 16 daily vehicle drivers and one open position after a recent retirement; the board approved issuing contracts to drivers because the positions require compliance with commercial licensure and random testing. The motions on both personnel items were carried by voice vote.
