On Jan. 7, 2026 the Oxford Township Committee introduced Ordinance 2026-1, which would amend Chapter 265 of the township code to exempt certain small-scale expansions from site-plan review. Under the proposed change, expansions of conforming permitted primary uses that are less than 500 square feet, and expansions of conforming permitted accessory uses, would not require site-plan approval. The ordinance also clarifies exemptions for agricultural expansions and protective structures for crops, and restates the availability of the ordinance for public inspection at the municipal clerk's office.
The ordinance was introduced on a motion and ordered published for public notice; a second reading and final adoption is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Municipal Building at 11 Green Street, Oxford. The committee did not engage in extended debate in the reorganization meeting and approved introduction by unanimous consent.
If adopted, the amendment will streamline approvals for small alterations and certain agricultural improvements; proponents said the change is intended to remove burdensome site-plan review for minor, conforming changes while preserving review for larger developments.
The committee directed that the ordinance be published and made available for public inspection before the Feb. 4 final reading.
