Heater's Pond to remain open through Aug. 21 after inspections; four lifeguards hired

Councilwoman Cowdrick told the July 22 meeting that four lifeguards have been hired and will begin work the following day after Heater's Pond passed its inspections. She said the pond will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will operate through Aug. 21, when lifeguards return to school.
Council members described recently improved conditions at the pond, and Mayor George P. Hutnick complimented Cowdrick on the work. The lifeguard hiring was included in the consent agenda and approved by roll-call vote.
