Ogdensburg council discusses capital purchases, e-ticketing and software upgrades; ordinance expected next meeting

CFO Mike Marceau presented capital request packets at the July 22 Ogdensburg Borough Council meeting and urged councilmembers to begin decisions so an ordinance can be prepared for the next meeting.
Marceau said requests exclude fire department items while DPW is seeking a new extended-cab truck; other prioritized equipment includes a road roller and a hot box the DPW needs to complete paving patches. Council members discussed selling or auctioning existing equipment to offset costs. "We need to make sure the roads are plowed for the winter," Council President DeMeo said, arguing plow-capable vehicles should be prioritized.
Police Chief Gordon gave model years for existing equipment and said the borough still lacks e-ticketing, noting it would improve officer safety and court processing. Marceau estimated water and finance system upgrades would cost "probably another fifteen or twenty [thousand]" dollars and said those could be paid annually. Council directed staff to obtain more detail and speak with bond counsel; Mr. Marceau said the ordinance would be prepared for the next meeting.
No formal capital vote occurred at the July 22 meeting; councilmembers asked for additional information before moving forward.
