Three small businesses open after Crisfield's $150,000 Project Restore grant

City officials updated the council on Project Restore, a grant-funded effort to rehabilitate commercial-corridor properties and help small businesses open in Crisfield.
Ms. Collins (S9) said the city received $150,000 from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and used the funds to renovate and equip three locations: 253 North Somerset (Home Kitchen), 609 West Main (Inspiration Health) and 523'525 West Main (Out of Time). "All 3 businesses are currently open," Collins said, and staff planned ribbon cuttings for the businesses in the coming days.
Collins said the grant covered building renovations, equipment purchases and startup needs so the businesses could begin operations. Council members congratulated the proprietors and asked staff to continue monitoring possible additional business-support funding opportunities.
The council was told the businesses' current hours vary by location and that staff would follow up on zoning or permitting details if operators required adjustments to hours or operations.
