Resident tells board planned data center has driven family member to a suicide attempt; requests consideration of noise and mental‑health impacts

Jess Sutton, who identified herself during public comment, asked aldermen to consider the mental‑health and noise effects of a proposed data center planned for her ward.

Sutton read from an email she had sent to aldermen and described a recent suicide attempt by a family member she said was linked to distress over the project and ongoing sound sensitivities such as tinnitus. She said she is compiling research documenting mental‑health and noise impacts and asked to be placed on a future agenda to present sources and links.

"I ask that you please take into consideration what is happening to those county residents who are faced with the everyday consequences of this project," Sutton said, and requested that the family involved remain private. She asked the board and planning staff to treat the matter with sensitivity and to allow her the opportunity to present verifiable sources at a later meeting.

Board members acknowledged the comment and the chair directed staff to include her material in the record upon request. Sutton said she will request an agenda slot once her materials are organized and asked the board to refrain from mockery or public criticism of the family while they heal.

Next steps: Sutton indicated she will submit source materials and ask to be put on a future agenda; the board did not take action at the meeting.
