Council recognizes employee and local basketball team; announces back-to-school and festival events
Summary
The mayor recognized a garage employee of the month and presented a plaque to the Natural Talent basketball team (29–0 this summer). Council announced school-registration and several community festivals and free services for students.
Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. recognized the garage employee of the month and encouraged the public to view an employee profile posted on city social media. Ed, a colleague, praised the employee’s body-shop background and willingness to help.
The council presented a plaque to the Natural Talent basketball team after captain Harold Remo reported a 29–0 record and travel to games in Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama. The mayor congratulated the team and invited a photo opportunity.
Officials also reviewed community announcements: the next council meeting is Aug. 11; school-registration and back-to-school events are under way; a free community haircut and supplies event will be held at the Bendy Johnson Educational Center; Zydeco and Meat Pie festivals and other community events were listed for the coming weeks.
These recognitions and announcements closed the meeting prior to adjournment.
