Pineville council approves condemnation notice, accepts public-works contract and authorizes grant applications

At its Jan. 13 meeting, the Pineville City Council approved several routine but consequential administrative actions.
The council adopted a resolution authorizing the mayor to serve notice to the owners of 1101 Melrose Street and to schedule a public hearing on a proposed condemnation. The measure passed by voice vote.
The council also approved a resolution accepting the contract from Artec Construction and Design LLC as substantially complete for the Military Highway Drainage Improvement project, from Tudor Street to Claiborne Street. Council members praised the contractor’s work during the discussion and moved to accept the contract as substantially complete; the motion carried.
Two grant-application resolutions passed: the mayor was authorized to submit a Community Water Enrichment Fund application for FY 2025–26 to replace air-release valves, clear water-main right-of-ways and provide access for cleaning the interior of ground storage tanks; and to submit a Local Government Assistance Program application for street-sign replacements (decorative signs and speed-limit signs) to targeted locations. Both motions were approved by voice vote.
