The Township Committee adopted Ordinance 2026-3 on Feb. 18, 2026, amending Chapter 265 of the township code to exempt a variety of small-scale projects from municipal site-plan review.
Mayor Gerald Norton opened the public hearing; no members of the public spoke. Georgette Miller moved to adopt the ordinance; Linda Koufodontes seconded. The measure passed unanimously by roll-call vote (Ayes: 3, Nays: 0).
Key exemptions in the ordinance include: detached one- and two-family dwelling applications (no square-foot limit), reconstruction/rehabilitation of permitted principal uses with expansions less than 500 square feet, expansion of conforming permitted principal uses under 500 square feet, development/expansion of conforming permitted accessory uses, agricultural expansions and improvements (including fences and hoop houses), and changes of use to permitted principal uses. The ordinance also repeals Ordinance 2026-1 in its entirety.
The Committee framed the change as a reduction of permitting burdens for small projects; the transcript records no public opposition at the hearing. The Clerk certified that the ordinance will be available for public inspection following adoption. The ordinance takes effect under applicable law.
