Wells selectboard approves routine licenses, large warrants and reaffirms public-works contract

The Wells selectboard on July 7 approved a slate of routine items, including renewals of full‑time alcohol and business licenses and several administrative policies, and reaffirmed a public‑works labor contract previously ratified in executive session.

Board members voted to approve the accounts‑payable warrant dated July 7, 2026, totaling $4,541,625.62, along with three advanced‑check warrants ($36,110.19; $1,647,605.89; and $187,499.18). Committee member (speaker 3) moved the warrant and the board approved it unanimously.

On employment matters, the board took a public reaffirmation vote on the labor contract between the Town of Wells and Teamsters Local Unit 340 for the public‑works unit. Committee member (speaker 3) moved to reaffirm ratification; after discussion about whether members who missed the executive session should vote, the board recorded the reaffirmation as 4 yes, 0 no, and 1 abstention.

Several license renewals were handled without public opposition: Hometown Pizza (Nolet’s Pizza) at 1517 Post Road; Spinnakers at 139 Post Road; Wells Beach Locksmith Town (beer and wine); Tide Trash Collection and Junk Removal (solid‑waste disposal); and Captain Satch and Sons (commercial recreation). In one liquor‑license vote a board member abstained because of a personal friendship with the applicant; otherwise these consent items passed unanimously.

The board also adopted its annual disbursement warrant policy and confirmed selectboard committee assignments, including adding an alternate to the Eastern Trail Management District, all by unanimous votes.

The meeting closed the consent agenda with standard procedural notices and several items set for public hearings on July 21.
