The Town of Jupiter council took several formal actions at its July 7 meeting.
Ordinance 29-26: The council adopted Ordinance 29-26 (fire rescue impact fee), which the town attorney read into the record. The ordinance establishes a fee to be imposed beginning Oct. 1, 2026 to help fund capital costs associated with fire department facilities and vehicles and provides for a trust fund and exemptions. The motion to adopt was moved and seconded and the ordinance passed 4–0.
Resolution 72-26 (contract award): The council voted to approve Resolution 72-26, awarding a contract to Calvin Giordano & Associates. Some council members questioned the vendor’s higher bill rates compared with other bidders; supporters said redundancy and availability in disaster situations justified including the firm. The resolution passed 3–1, with Mayor Jim Kuretsky dissenting.
Resolution 9,026 (postponement): A council member moved to postpone Resolution 9,026 to allow the school district additional review time; the council approved the postponement unanimously.
Votes and next steps: The minutes record the ordinance’s effective date (Oct. 1, 2026) and direct staff to establish required administrative procedures for fee collection. Staff will finalize contract documents for the approved consultant and will coordinate with the school district on the postponed item.
