Council approves permits, budget adjustments and a city-hall alarm contract
Summary
At the July meeting the council approved a community beach-party permit, a sound-device permit for a youth camp, budget reallocations for DPW equipment and other line-item amendments, and a contract for alarm monitoring at City Hall.
In a series of mostly uncontested votes the City of Cortland Common Council approved several routine items on the agenda.
Special event permits: Council approved issuance of permits for a Community Beach Party sponsored by the County Health Department in collaboration with the mayor's office and youth bureau, scheduled for Aug. 6 at Mainline Park with vendor and sound permissions.
Sound-device permit: The council authorized a no-fee sound-device permit for Access to Independence to use the Saugat Park shelter for a youth summer camp Aug. 10–13.
Budget amendments and equipment purchase: Council approved an amendment increasing the sale-of-equipment line by $52,226 and reallocating those funds to an operating/equipment line to support purchase of a DPW pickup/truck intended for plowing and salting. The body also approved additional fiscal-year 2026 general fund adjustments described in the packet after a motion to amend was adopted.
City services contract: Council authorized an agreement with Syracuse Time and Alarm Company, Inc., for alarm monitoring and inspection services at City Hall through Feb. 28, 2027, not to exceed $2,666, with payment from account A1620-541500.
All items were approved by roll-call vote as recorded in the meeting minutes.
