Board members used the Nov. 11 meeting to raise concerns about communication during an unexpected snow event earlier that day that left buses delayed.
The superintendent said the district typically receives a morning update from the municipal police dispatch no later than 5 a.m.; that notification did not arrive this morning. “That didn't happen this morning… I apologize,” he said, and explained that without the dispatch call the district lacked timely information to post delays for parents and coordinate bus scheduling. He said elementary notifications were posted where possible but the middle-school notification was delayed because of limited staff available to issue the notice.
Board members agreed the district and bus company should work more closely with municipal partners to ensure timely communication during inclement weather. The superintendent said all students arrived safely and the district will follow up with the mayor’s office and bus company to understand the lapse.
Closing: Board indicated it will seek clarification from the mayor and the police dispatch to prevent a repeat.
