Winneconne board approves 2024–25 handbooks, moves October meeting to Oct. 28

Following the Title IX policy actions, the Winneconne Community School District board completed routine business on Aug. 19, 2024 by approving updates to staff handbooks and adjusting its October calendar.
The board approved the 2024–25 teacher handbook after a brief discussion about mentoring support and fees; administration said the mentoring program spans two years and that the mentor fee is $250 per semester. The board then approved the 2024–25 support staff handbook, which the administration said includes updates summarized on page 3 of the packet.
Trustees also voted to change the October board and annual meeting date from Oct. 21 to Oct. 28, 2024 to accommodate a board member’s travel and to allow staff additional time to complete required reports. The motion to move the date passed by roll call.
Board members asked staff for additional information on at‑risk student projections and where referendum funds have been spent; a trustee observed recent payments and requested a written update for the board. The meeting concluded with a motion, seconded and approved by roll call, to enter executive session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85 for closed‑session matters including personnel evaluations, insurance bids and teacher contract issues.
Next steps: administration will provide the requested fiscal and program updates and the board will address executive‑session items after the closed meeting.
