The sheriff also reported corrections operations statistics: 1,028 meals served on DOC holds and average meal costs; he requested guidance about acquiring six new bulletproof vests (about $1,500 each) and asked whether the county would consider assisting with half the cost. Commissioners said they would examine budget lines and consider an additional appropriation later in the year.
Chair (speaker 3) and other commissioners handled other routine items during the meeting, including motions and unanimous votes on procedural matters.
The board did not take any final, binding action on the bulletproof-vest funding during the meeting; commissioners directed staff to identify a funding source or return with a budget amendment if needed.
