Select Board approves appointments and entertainment permit, discusses sign location and concerts

The Stockbridge Select Board on July 2 approved routine governance items including minutes, appointments and permits and discussed logistics for an upcoming concert series.

The board voted to approve the minutes of June 4 and to appoint a select board member to serve on the Affordable Housing Trust. The chair read a slate of names for the Cultural Council and the board approved those appointments by voice vote. The chair also accepted a one-day license request for an event at Chesterwood on Aug. 1.

Parks & Recreation and the cultural council presented a request for an entertainment permit for an initial concert series beginning July 10 (evening hours). Staff described coordination with the Chamber of Commerce to avoid conflicts with the Chamber's Arts & Crafts show and explained plans for vendor setup and parking accommodations. After discussion the board approved the entertainment permit and asked staff to keep communication open with the Chamber and with event organizers.

The board also discussed placement and design of a town sign at the Stockbridge Town offices (preferring a green backdrop and no ribbon). Staff said the sign company will supply a final mock-up for board review and recommended a temporary 4-by-8 demonstration sign to test sightlines before permanent installation.

The meeting closed with town announcements, holiday hours for town operations, a family event at the Chime Tower and congratulations to a retiring town employee, Terry Amalini. The board adjourned following a final voice vote.
