Trustee Chelsea Lancaster, who led several planning discussions, said changing KK’s classification from a "minor artery" to a "major artery" will improve the corridor’s score for competitive state and federal funding. “This is probably a $50,000,000 upgrade,” a trustee said in explaining the need for phasing and coordination to match annual funding cycles.
The board voted to support the grant application and encouraged staff to continue coordinating with DOT and neighboring jurisdictions on mapping and project phasing. The resolution does not obligate Village funds for construction; it signals support for pursuing grant funding and regional collaboration.
