Port Royal council adopts FOI delegation changes, advances multiple sidewalk conveyances and appoints Gary Freeman to county transportation advisory committee

At its Jan. 14 meeting the Port Royal Town Council approved by voice vote an ordinance to clarify delegation and internal processes for public records/FOI requests, aiming to identify departmental FOI contacts and ensure appropriate redaction and legal review for sensitive requests.
The council also approved several conveyance ordinances authorizing the town manager to convey excess real property to facilitate construction or reconstruction of sidewalks at multiple Beaufort/Buford County parcels; staff identified parcel IDs and addresses on the record and said project bids for related work (including a splash pad) are due Jan. 21.
Council appointed Gary Freeman to a county transportation advisory body (motion and voice vote). Chairwoman Howard (present) described a Buford County Transportation Advisory Committee that will develop a project list and a proposed referendum for a 1¢ sales tax for transportation; she said engineering estimates have been secured to inform accurate project costs.
