The Paramus Board of Shade Tree & Parks Commission on Jan. 14 unanimously approved new leadership and several routine motions, and released a previously canceled tree-preservation project.
W.R. Comery was nominated for chairman (moved by B. Goggin, seconded by F. Rizzo) and elected by a voice vote recorded as "All in favor." B. Goggin was nominated for vice chairman (moved by F. Rizzo, seconded by A. Hios) and Sarah Dahl was nominated for secretary (moved by F. Rizzo, seconded by B. Goggin); both nominations carried with "All in favor."
During the Superintendent's report the commission heard that a tree-preservation release project had been canceled and not completed; F. Rizzo moved to officially release the matter, seconded by F. Ehlers, and the motion passed unanimously. The commission also voted to authorize payment of bills (motion by B. Goggin, seconded by F. Ehlers), again with "All in favor."
The approvals were procedural and carried without recorded dissent. Staff updates delivered at the meeting covered winter removals and upcoming ash removals; the commission did not take additional policy action on those items during the session.
New business planned by staff includes circulating spring planting bid information and beginning sourcing for tree purchases and large-tree transplants. The meeting adjourned after those items were addressed.
