A staff member said, “staff feels that it makes sense to rezone it,” noting that the planned land across the road south of Highway 55 is already designated Business Park.
A commissioner asked who had submitted letters of intent for future development; staff said the letters came from a variety of business owners, including trade contractors, some IT firms and multi-tenant commercial operators, numbering about nine or ten, and that none of those contacts opposed the rezoning. Staff also noted that existing protective covenants on the parcel reference Business Park zoning, which prompted the review.
A commissioner moved to approve the zone map amendment to rezoning for the parcel associated with 'Harrison' at County KK and Highway 55; the motion was seconded and carried by unanimous vote.
The commission did not attach additional conditions to the rezoning during the meeting. Staff said they would circulate the list of interested business owners and any relevant covenants to commission members as part of the record.
