By motion, the council approved Change Order #2 for the power‑plant cooling project, reflecting a decrease of $44,863.75. The body also approved a final pay application to Farabee Mechanical in the amount of $246,433.63. Both actions were moved and seconded and passed without recorded opposition.
Doug Goracke, who presented utility updates, said the cooling project is substantially complete but reimbursements to the city were slowed by a recent federal government shutdown. Goracke also reported work on other utility tasks: demolition and foundation excavation of the old pool house, replacement of a pole near 10th Clay, and an identified need to replace switchgear at Tecumseh Poultry. Staff are completing Grid grant project paperwork and soliciting cost estimates for a building to house generator sets.
Council approved the administrative steps required to close out the cooling project and authorize payment to the contractor. The minutes do not list outstanding warranties or the expected schedule for the switchgear replacement at Tecumseh Poultry.
