Mahwah board: bond sale clears way for referendum construction projects

The board’s secretary and business-office representative said design work and field measurements by Gann Associates are complete for roofing projects and that planning continues for Building 5, where the district is finalizing plans for an 18–21 program. The secretary also noted planned replacements at Ramapo Ridge Middle School and a separate “leisure-seek” replacement project as part of the referendum scope.
"Gann Associates has completed field measurements and design work for the roofing projects, and we anticipate to bring the contracts to the board for approval at our July meeting," the secretary reported. The district will bring the contracts to the board for formal approval before work begins.
Board members and the business office framed the sale as a routine financing step to provide the capital needed for the referendum projects. The secretary said the business office will focus on audit closeout and supporting the next phase of the referendum projects over the summer.
What happens next: bond-closing paperwork and formal contract awards will be on the board’s upcoming agenda; the district expects to use the proceeds to start the projects identified in the referendum.
