Tecumseh council adopts One and Six Year street plan and names 2026 street superintendent

The Tecumseh City Council on Dec. 1 adopted a resolution approving the city’s One and Six Year Plan for street improvements and completed related personnel and certification steps for street operations.
Council Member Lorie Topp moved to adopt the One and Six Year Plan; Council Member Alicia Brommer seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously in favor. The plan frames near-term and longer-term projects for city streets, including design work on Arrowhead Drive, which staff said is underway.
Council Member Tyler Speckmann moved, and Council Member Brian Britt seconded, approval of the Year‑End Certification of the City Street Superintendent form, which passed by unanimous vote. The council then voted to appoint Matt Schaardt as the city’s Street Superintendent for the Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026 term (motion by Council Member Lorie Topp; second by Lance Beethe).
Doug Goracke, representing city public‑works/street operations during the meeting, reported crews are patching potholes, preparing plows and stocking ice melt in advance of winter. The council’s actions finalize staffing and administrative requirements tied to managing the street program for the coming year.
No members voted against any of the street‑related items. The council moved on to other agenda items after completing the street votes.
