Tecumseh council adopts wellhead protection ordinance and hazard mitigation plan

The Tecumseh City Council adopted an ordinance on Oct. 6 to adopt the city’s wellhead protection plan prepared by Olsson and also adopted Resolution 2025-16 to accept a Hazard Mitigation Action Plan that will make the city eligible for certain federal mitigation funds.
Tyler Speckmann moved to introduce and adopt the wellhead protection plan ordinance, seconded by Alicia Brommer; the motion for final passage passed 5–0 with Councilmember Travis Goracke absent. The ordinance repeals inconsistent provisions as needed and will be published in pamphlet form per statutory requirements.
Separately, the council introduced and adopted Resolution 2025-16 to adopt a Hazard Mitigation Action Plan to make the city eligible for pre-disaster and post-disaster federal funding for mitigation purposes. Brian Britt introduced the resolution and Lorie Topp seconded; the resolution passed 5–0.
Council members said adopting the wellhead protection plan will help codify protective measures for water sources and that the hazard mitigation action plan preserves eligibility for federal mitigation grants; no additional funding allocations were recorded in the minutes at the time of adoption.
